Can I trade in my own car if I buy a car from you?
Yes, you can trade in your current car with us. Fill in your car's details on the trade-in page, and you will receive an offer from us: https://www.dasimport.nl/inruil/inruilbod-opvragen. If you buy a car from us at the same time, we will offset the trade-in amount against the purchase.
What happens after I have filled in the trade-in form?
The trade-in process begins as soon as we receive your request. Based on the details and photos you provide, we place your vehicle on our private platform, where recognised dealers from our network can make a bid. We then communicate the highest bid to you. Do you agree? Then we secure the amount for you until the moment you come to collect your new car from us.
You can request a trade-in offer here: https://www.dasimport.nl/inruil/inruilbod-opvragen.
How long does it take before I receive a trade-in offer?
From the moment you have fully completed the trade-in form and provided the required photos of the vehicle, it usually takes two working days before we can provide you with a suitable trade-in offer.

Can I offset my trade-in car or a down payment in the financing?
Yes. Both offsetting your trade-in car against the amount to be financed and a partial payment (down payment) are among the options. In addition, you can include a final instalment equal to the actual residual value to reduce the monthly amount further. Our advisers will help you tailor the financing to your wishes.

What is the difference between a trade-in price and the trade value of my car?
A trade-in price is often confused with the trade value, but it is not the same thing. When trading in at a car dealership, they base themselves on the trade value of your car and then offer a slightly higher trade-in price, but then give no further discount on the car to be purchased. This gives a distorted picture. Our advice is therefore not to look solely at the trade-in price offered, but to consider the overall picture.

Do I get a real offer on my trade-in car or a provisional koerslijst price?
You receive a 100% guaranteed offer based on the details you provide, not a provisional koerslijst (price list) price that is adjusted downwards afterwards. Das Import acts as an intermediary through a broad international network of registered dealers. Describe the condition and history of your car as fully as possible, then the bidder does not reserve amounts for surprises and you get the highest possible yield.

Can I have an official appraisal report of my car drawn up?
Yes, we can draw up an official Autotelex appraisal report for you, which shows, among other things, the trade value and the private sale value (together the market value) of your car. In addition, the report generally provides an indication of the trade-in value, the internet asking price and the new price, plus the ownership history via a licence plate link. The market value depends on factors such as new price, age, mileage, accessories, condition and colour. Such an appraisal can also be useful when you want to transfer a business car to private ownership.

How long is my trade-in offer valid and how do I get the highest bid?
If you complete the trade-in form fully and truthfully, the bid is guaranteed for at least 5 days, without any obligation to sell. We ask for a detailed description and at least five good photos; this ensures that the bids contain no reservations for any damage or defects and that you receive the highest possible price. We request the bid through a large online car auction with a large international network of registered dealers. We agree on the hand-in date in consultation, often on the delivery date of the car to be imported, so that you do not incur double costs.

Can my trade-in car be picked up or do I have to deliver it?
You can deliver your traded-in car at our office in Zaandam, or make use of our nationwide pick-up service. This pick-up service costs 100 euro excluding VAT. This way you do not have to bring the car to Zaandam yourself.

What is consignment sale at Das Import?
Consignment sale is a service in which Das Import acts as an intermediary in the sale of your car to an end user, instead of to a dealer. This can be smarter in the higher segment, where trade offers can turn out relatively low due to the larger capital requirement.
We take the sale entirely off your hands: we list your car online on our own channels and on the major sales platforms, arrange the photos and the advertisement text, respond to the reactions, carry out the viewings, and handle the negotiation, the paperwork and the payment. So you do not have to receive strangers at your home and you do not run the risk of a payment that turns out not to be correct. You hear from us what comes in and decide for yourself whether you agree.

Do you buy my car yourselves?
No. We act as an intermediary and have multiple dealers bid on your car. This creates a market-based trade price.
Can I trade in my car without importing a car?
Our trade-in intermediation is intended as an additional service for customers who make use of our import services. If you only want to sell your car, please feel free to contact us to discuss the options.
Why does a trade-in offer differ from the asking price on the internet?
A trade price is usually lower than a sales price to an end user. Dealers take into account, among other things, warranty, maintenance, preparation, risk and the time until the car is sold.
Can I also sell my car without trading it in?
Yes. In some cases we can also assist you with the sale of your car.
Does a consignment sale usually yield more?
In many cases it does. Because the car is sold directly to an end user, the proceeds are often higher than the trade value. Do keep in mind, however, that the sales process usually takes more time than a direct sale to a dealer.
Who determines the sale price with consignment sales?
The asking price is determined in consultation with you based on the market value and our experience.
What do you arrange with consignment sales?
Among other things, we take care of the presentation of the car, the photography, advertisements, viewings, negotiations and the administrative handling.
Does my car have to meet certain conditions for consignment sales?
Yes. The car must be in a technical and visual condition that is suitable for sale. If necessary, we advise in advance on any points of attention.
Can I keep using my car during the consignment sale?
That depends on the agreements made and the way in which the sales process is set up.
Can I transfer my financing or lease with the trade-in?
That depends on your situation. We would be happy to look at the available options together with you.
When do I hand in my current car?
We coordinate this as much as possible with the delivery of your new car, so that you can keep using your current car for as long as possible.
Can I trade in several cars at once?
Please contact us about this. Depending on the situation, we would be happy to look into the possibilities.
Why do online purchase offers often turn out lower than expected?
Some online buyers first give an indicative offer and later revise it downwards after the physical inspection. That is why we work with offers from professional dealers based on the information you provide.
Can the buyer of my car also get a warranty or financing?
Yes. With consignment sales, additional services such as a warranty and financing are often possible. This increases the chances of selling your car.
What do I need to arrange with my insurance and road tax after I have traded in my car?
As soon as your car is transferred and the registration in your name is ended, you will receive an indemnity certificate (vrijwaringsbewijs). Keep this safe: it is your proof that the car is no longer registered in your name.
- Road tax: the RDW (Dutch vehicle authority) passes the termination on to the Belastingdienst (Dutch tax authority). The motorrijtuigenbelasting (Dutch road tax) stops on the date of transfer; any tax paid in excess is automatically refunded to your account. You do not need to cancel this yourself.
- Insurance: this does continue as normal. Report the sale to your insurer yourself and keep the reference number of the indemnity certificate to hand. In many cases you can have the policy transferred to your new car, so that you are not uninsured for a single day.
Are you not yet sure exactly on which date your new car will be registered in your name? Coordinate this with your import adviser, so that insurance and transfer connect seamlessly.
When is my trade-in car deregistered and when will I receive the deregistration certificate?
When you hand in your trade-in car with us in Zaandam, we arrange the deregistration immediately on the spot at the office. You therefore receive the deregistration certificate right away upon handover of the car.
The deregistration certificate is the official proof that the licence plate is no longer registered in your name. From that moment on you are no longer responsible for, among other things, the motorrijtuigenbelasting (Dutch road tax), insurance obligation and MOT obligation.
Keep the deregistration certificate safe and only cancel your car's insurance after you have received the deregistration.
What must I provide if I trade in or sell my current car?
For the transfer at the RDW (Dutch vehicle authority), three things are needed: the vehicle registration card, the accompanying registration code (the 9-digit code on the underside of the registration card or on the separate registration certificate) and a valid identity document of the registered owner. Without the registration code, the car cannot be registered in the name of another party; lost it? Then you request a new code from the RDW.
In addition, the items that belong to the car partly determine the valuation: think of all keys, the maintenance documentation and invoices, and for an electric car the charging cables. What exactly needs to be included in your case is best coordinated with your import adviser, so that the offer on your car is correct and nothing is missing at the handover.
What happens if my trade-in car deviates during the inspection from what I stated?
During the inspection we look at whether the car matches your description. If something deviates, we record this carefully.
If you have described your car correctly and completely, the offer made will remain in place. Significant deviations that were not known in advance can indeed affect the final offer. Think of damage, missing maintenance history or a different mileage than stated.
Therefore, when requesting an offer, please state as completely as possible what is wrong with the car: damage, signs of use, repair work and the maintenance status, preferably with clear photos. This way you avoid surprises afterwards.
Would you like to know what happens in your situation with the offer and the further process? Then contact your import adviser; they will go through the reported deviations with you.
My car is a VAT car: how does that work with a trade-in or consignment sale?
With a VAT car, the handling differs from that of a margin car. If we purchase your VAT car or it is sold through us, we receive an invoice from you or your company. We can calculate for you in advance exactly how this invoice should be structured. The VAT and BPM (Dutch vehicle registration tax) are then listed separately and no VAT is charged over the BPM. The invoice amount is subsequently paid out to you.
With a margin car, no invoice is required. We draw up a purchase declaration that you sign upon transfer, after which we pay out the agreed amount to you.
With consignment sales too, we take the VAT status of the car into account. The sale and settlement are set up accordingly, so that a VAT car is sold as a VAT car and a margin car as a margin car and settled correctly.
When offering your car, please indicate whether it concerns a VAT car or a margin car. Then we take this into account from the start in the bid and the further handling.
Can I trade in a car with a foreign registration or a previously imported car with you?
If your car was previously imported but now has a Dutch registration, you can simply trade it in with us. You enter your car's details via our trade-in page. We present your car with extensive details and photos to a large (international) network of registered dealers, who can bid against each other. You then receive the highest bid from us.
If the car is in the condition you indicated beforehand upon delivery, the accepted bid is final. If the condition of the car turns out to deviate from the provided details, photos or information, the bid may be revised.
You can deliver your car in Zaandam or have us collect it. We usually align the timing with the arrival of your imported car. If you wish to receive the trade-in amount earlier, the car can also be delivered earlier, provided the purchase of the import car has already taken place.
If your car still has a foreign registration, please first contact one of our import advisers. We will look at what is possible per situation and which documents are required for this.
